Installing Boardwise as an App

Boardwise is available as a native app for iPhone, iPad, and Android, and can also be installed on your computer from your web browser. Once installed, Boardwise launches from your home screen or dock in its own window, feels like any other app, and is always up to date.

Why Install?

• Quick launch — Open Boardwise from your home screen or dock, just like any other app.
• Standalone window — No address bar or browser tabs, so you get more screen space for your board materials.
• Push notifications — The iPhone, iPad, and Android apps deliver meeting reminders and updates as native notifications.
• Offline access — Save meeting documents ahead of time and view them without an internet connection. See Viewing Documents Offline for details.

On Your Phone or Tablet

For phones and tablets, we recommend installing the native Boardwise app from your device's app store. It includes push notifications, fast document downloads, and the smoothest experience for reading board materials on the go.

iPhone or iPad

1. Open the App Store on your device
2. Search for Boardwise, or use this direct link: Boardwise on the App Store
3. Tap Get to install
4. Open the app and sign in as you normally would

Your sign-in and settings are tied to your Boardwise account, so everything is exactly where you left it.

On a Computer

There is no separate desktop app to download. Instead, most browsers let you install Boardwise directly from the web so it opens in its own window, just like a native application.

Chrome or Edge (Windows, Mac, Linux)

1. Open Boardwise in your browser and sign in
2. Look for the Install icon in the address bar (a monitor with a down arrow), or open the browser menu (three dots)
3. Click Install Boardwise or Install app
4. Boardwise opens in its own window and appears in your Start menu, Dock, or app launcher

Safari (Mac)

Requires Safari 17 or later (macOS Sonoma and above).

1. Open Boardwise in Safari and sign in
2. From the menu bar, click File > Add to Dock
3. Boardwise appears in your Dock and opens in its own window

Other Browsers

Firefox on desktop does not currently support app installation. You can still bookmark Boardwise for quick access.

Installing from the Browser on a Phone (Alternative)

If you would rather not install from the app store, you can still add Boardwise to your home screen straight from your mobile browser. This creates a shortcut that opens in a full-screen window, though it does not include native push notifications.

iPhone or iPad (Safari)

1. Open Boardwise in Safari
2. Tap the Share button (square with an arrow pointing up)
3. Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen
4. Enter a name (or keep "Boardwise") and tap Add

Android (Chrome)

1. Open Boardwise in Chrome
2. Tap the three-dot menu in the top right
3. Tap Install app or Add to Home screen
4. Confirm by tapping Install

Updating the App

• iPhone, iPad, and Android apps update through the App Store or Google Play, the same as your other apps. Most devices update automatically.
• Browser-installed versions (desktop, or "Add to Home Screen") are web-based and update on their own — every time you open Boardwise you are running the latest version, with nothing to download manually.

Uninstalling

iPhone, iPad, or Android

Remove it the same way you would any app — long-press the icon and select Remove App, Uninstall, or Delete.

On a Computer

• Chrome: Open Boardwise, click the three-dot menu in the title bar, and select Uninstall Boardwise
• Edge: Open Boardwise, click the three-dot menu, then App settings, and select Uninstall
• Or remove it from your operating system's app management (Add/Remove Programs on Windows, drag to Trash on Mac)

Troubleshooting

I Can't Find the App in the Store

• Make sure you are searching the correct store for your device — the App Store on iPhone/iPad, Google Play on Android
• Use the direct links above: App Store · Google Play

I Don't See an Install Option in My Browser

• Make sure you are using a supported browser (Chrome, Edge, or Safari on iOS)
• You may have already installed it — check your home screen or app launcher
• Some browsers only show the install prompt after you have visited the site a few times

The App Looks Different After Reinstalling

Your settings and sign-in are tied to your Boardwise account, not the installed app. Sign in again after reinstalling and everything will be as you left it.
