Using Search

Using Search

Boardwise provides a global search feature to help you quickly find meetings, documents, action items, and other content across your organizations.

To open search, click Find in the main navigation bar at the top of the screen. This takes you to the search page where you can enter your query.

Search covers the following content types:

  • Meetings - Find meetings by name or description
  • Documents - Search document titles and content
  • Folders - Locate folders by name
  • Action Items - Find tasks by title or details
  • Comments - Search through discussion comments
  1. Click Find in the navigation bar
  2. Type your search terms in the search field
  3. Results appear automatically as you type

Each result shows:

  • The organization it belongs to
  • When it was last updated
  • The item's title (click to open)
  • A preview of the content

Filtering Results

Use the filters below the search box to narrow your results:

Filter by Type

Select a specific content type from the dropdown:

  • Everything - Show all matching results (default)
  • Meetings - Only show meetings
  • Documents - Only show documents
  • Folders - Only show folders
  • Action Items - Only show action items
  • Comments - Only show comments

Filter by Organization

If you belong to multiple organizations, an organization filter appears. Use it to search within a specific organization or select Everywhere to search across all your organizations.

Tips for Effective Searching

  • Start broad, then filter - Begin with general terms, then use type filters to narrow results
  • Use specific terms - Search for unique words that appear in what you are looking for
  • Check different types - If you cannot find something, try removing the type filter to see all results
  • Try partial words - Search picks up partial matches, so "budget" will find "budgeting"

Access Control

Search results respect your permissions. You will only see content you have access to:

  • Organization role - Administrators see all content in their organization
  • Committee membership - Members see content from their committees and boards
  • Meeting access - Attendees can find materials from meetings they were invited to

If you cannot find something you expect to see, you may not have permission to access it. Contact your organization administrator if you believe you should have access.
